Switching Channels
Every company wants his advertisements to be seen. No one wants the viewer to switch channels whenever a commercial break comes along. This is why many businesses pay advertising agencies to create interesting, innovative, entertaining advertisements. Persuasive tag lines, intriguing teasers, beautiful models and catchy jingles are some of the most common features of television commercials. Worldwide, Thailand and India are particularly known for their humorous adverts. French advertising is known to be characterised by a lot of passion, romance or sensuality. The best times to advertise are during prime time shows and much-awaited competitions, especially live broadcasts. Companies air their adverts in between breaks for popular news programmes, talk shows, soap operas, reality shows and sports championships. In fact, the term “soap opera” was derived from melodramatic television series that were funded by advertisements for soap brands. Audience-specific programmes, such as shows for kids, mothers, businesspersons and other groups, also allow businesses to target niche markets and specific consumers.
